Scholarships
Scholarships are funds offered by various colleges, departments, organizations, or companies to students who meet specific criteria. For example, a physics major may intend to go into research, or an athlete may plan to become a coach. Scholarships may be awarded on merit, need, or a combination of factors and do not require repayment. Per IRS Code 117, you may be responsible to pay taxes on any scholarship award. For more information please contact the U.S. Internal Revenue Service[1] (IRS), or seek advice from a certified tax preparer.
Cal State East Bay honors outstanding students each year by administering various scholarship awards through the Office of Financial Aid Scholarship Application[2]. Scholarships range from $500 to $3,500, with the average award being $1,000. New and continuing students are encouraged to apply annually, as students may receive more than one scholarship.
Although scholarships are awarded to honor outstanding academic achievement, many take financial need into consideration. For scholarships where need is a selection criteria, students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)[3] for consideration. Due to the large number of applications received, not all qualified students may receive scholarships.
There are 02 intakes in CSUEB Jan & Sep.
